Is a makeup setting spray worth the hype?

Hello ladies!

I’m on my way to university but let’s have a quick discussion about makeup setting sprays before that. Are they really worth the hype? Let’s find out, shall we?

You’ve probably already heard about makeup primers or you maybe have one in your makeup bag. A makeup primer is applied before the foundation and it provides a smoother application. Well, a setting spray is then the last step of your makeup routine, meaning that you use it after you are done applying your makeup. So, think of it as the finishing touch. It usually comes in a spray or mist form. It is transparent and doesn’t change the texture or the color of your makeup. It just sets everything and makes sure that you won’t have a makeup meltdown in the middle of your day. A makeup setting spray is suitable for almost any skin type but pay extra attention to what you are buying, if you have a sensitive skin. Maybe consider a product that doesn’t contain any alcohol or any harsh chemicals. After you’ve picked the best one for you, all you need to do is to apply a few squirts of the spray on your face from an arm distance.wpid-20151104_134846_clean.jpg

So far, so good! But where do you find a makeup setting spray? I’ve looked online and found out that Urban Decay have one, e.l.f. cosmetics have one, online catalogs offer setting sprays also (eg. Avon, Oriflame). Or in my case Alverde ( a German brand) offers a great, natural setting spray and it only costs 3 euro. If you have a DM store nearby, you can have a look.wpid-20151104_134905_clean.jpg

In my opinion, a setting spray is a great option, especially if you want for your makeup to look extra nice and to last a long time. Let’s say you have a big event coming up, a setting spray would be your best friend. Of course, you don’t have to use it every day, it is by no means a necessity but it could be very helpful for the days when you have something important and want to look put together.

What do you girls think? Would you use a setting spray and if so do you have a favorite? Let me know in the comments below!

Love,
Vili

    1. Hello! You are more than welcome! I don’t want to spent a ton of money on a setting spray either. This one in particular has been working quite well and doesn’t cost much. I’m not an all-natural-products-girl but I appreciate the benefits of natural cosmetics. Give it a try!

  1. I love my Urban Decay setting spray! I used it almost every day because I live in Louisiana, the land of makeup meltdowns. I’ve tried L’Oreal and found it didn’t do anything.
When I’m doing wedding makeup I’ll even spray it before the setting powered for an even greater staying power!
In the end setting sprays are my best friend; even if i skip primer I’ll still spray on the Urban Decay Stay All-night
Love the look and layout of your page!

About the post…I don’t use a primer on a daily basis because it clogs my pores but I almost never skip the setting spray,it makes a huge difference in how my makeup looks and stays on my skin. For me it’s a must-have!
And I love your blog! Keep up the good work,it definitely has a lot of potential!
