- How to use castor oil for hair growth
Castor oil is a traditional way of taking care of your hair and scalp and it has been around for hundreds of years. It contains vitamin E, Omega 6 fatty acids, minerals and proteins. All of these are very important if you want to have long healthy hair! It is best to use it as a hair mask before showering with carrier oils. The reason why you need carrier oil is because of the thick consistency of the castor oil. Mixing them will make the application and the rinse much easier. You can combine it with coconut oil, sesame oil, almond oil…pretty much whichever you like best. Mix them in a half and half ratio and warm them slightly if you’d like. This will help your hair to penetrate the oils easier. Start with brushed, tangle free hair and massage the oils into your scalp. Then section your hair and apply the rest throughout. For better results wrap your hair in a shower cap or a warm towel and leave it in for at least 2 hours. You can even leave it overnight, if you’d like to. Wash your hair as usual afterwards.
- How often should you use castor oil?
It depends on what you want to achieve with it. If you want to make your hair shinier and deep condition it once a week will be just fine. If you are treating damaged hair or hair loss two to three times a week will be even better. Keep in mind that you shouldn’t over wash your hair just so that you can use the castor oil beforehand, as this will do more harm than good.
- When will you see results?
Once again, it depends on the condition of your hair. If you are dealing with hair loss, give it at least 4 weeks. If you want to grow your hair longer it will take about 3 months to notice any visible results. For very damaged and heat processed hair I would say a good year. Be patient and give your hair time to repair.
I hope this was helpful and I’ll be glad to hear your feedback.Have you ever used castor oil and did you see any results? Let me know in the comments below!
