Today I finally made time to meet with a very good friend of mine and it got me thinking how important it is to take some time off and to take care of ourselves and how this affects the way we look. If you are feeling a bit under the weather lately, maybe you should revise some important factors in your life that have a great impact on your looks.
Our bodies are made to move. So do yourself good and get out in the nature. Go for a jog, do yoga, go on a bike ride. It doesn’t matter what you are doing as long as you are moving your body. Doing any kind of sport will get your blood flowing and will increase your metabolism. You will get stronger, fitter and happier. Another bonus is a glowing skin. Sweating everything out will make you radiant!
Get enough Zzz
I know, I know… it is very easy to find an excuse not to sleep enough like working long hours, your favorite TV series is on, you are reading a really interesting book, you have to prepare for your exams… the list is endless, really! I know because I do it, but understanding that your body needs to rest is essential. If you want to be productive throughout the day and perform at your best, you need to be well rested. All those dark under eye circles, flakey skin, and brittle hair could be because of lack of sleep.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away
I cannot stress enough about the importance of healthy eating habits and the countless benefits that healthy food has on us. If you are not doing so well with your diet, you don’t have to go cold turkey. Take it slow, limit processed foods, and include more fruit and veggies into your meals. Inform yourself and learn which foods are good for you and which are not so good and just try to be more on the good side. You will have more energy, your skin will glow, your hair will grow faster and thicker. The benefits are countless!
Let’s get real for a second, not everyone can afford a day at the SPA. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do it at home! Cancel your Saturday night plans and take time to pamper yourself. Get a hot shower, paint your nails, do a hair mask, read a book, watch a movie. You know what you like to do, so do it! Because each of us needs it from time to time and you are going to feel refreshed and ready to get to business afterwards.
And lastly, enjoy it. Enjoy taking care of yourself and taking the time to do so and your body will thank you for it!
