I bet each one of you had at least one time in your life, when you wondered why things happen the way they happen. Why do you have to work more than others to achieve the same goal? Why didn’t you pass an important exam? Why didn’t you get the job you wanted? I know…I’ve been there and I go back to this state now and then. It is not a pleasant feeling, right? This can turn into a permanent state, which can lead to depression, if you don’t take control over it. Do you know what this is? It is called negative way of thinking. Every time something unpleasant happens to you, you go to this state where you feel down and maybe disappointed in you. I get it…it is easier to think about the bad things, instead to lift yourself up. Do you know what the opposite of the negative thinking is? That’s right, it is the positive thinking. It takes time to master it and you have to work on it every single day.
You have probably heard of the law of attraction. It basically says that you attract what you think about. This means that your thoughts have the power to become things. This could be a very useful tool but it could also be dangerous because it is easier to have negative thoughts and spiral down. It is way harder shift your mind and start thinking positively.
So how can you use the law of attraction in your favor? It is simple but it is not easy. You see, the thing is …going to the book store and buying bunch of books about positivity or binge watching movies about it on Netflix won’t help you much. I am not saying that they are bad, don’t get me wrong. They can help you a lot. The problem is that you are missing the first step. What is the first step? I am glad you asked. It is convincing yourself and really believing that things can get better. Believing that you are going to succeed in whatever you do. You are going to pass that test! You are going to get the job you want! You are going to get there, but you have to believe with all your heart. You have to give everything you have and be ready to put the work in it. It is not magic, it won’t get things done for you but it will make the path easier. So here is what you can do to start. You can envision what you want to achieve. Set a goal, take a notebook, write it down. Try to imagine it like you already have it. Think what you are going to do, when you achieve it. How are you going to feel? How are going to react? Get into that mental state of feeling successful, like you already have it. Think about your dream like you are already dreaming it. A simple example I can give you is a movie. That’s right, a movie. Before going to sleep, lie in your bed and imagine yourself living your dream like a movie. You are directing the movie and things are going to unfold before your eyes the way you want them to. Really get the vision of having what you want.
In my opinion, this is a great exercise to start with because it gives you feeling of already having something you want. You feel excited, successful, powerful…you name it. All of those feelings make you feel good about yourself and this is where you need to start, if you want to build your dream life.
